BOOK BY: Robin Lee Hatcher
A sweet story that spans two different times, connected by a violin that brings the unlikeliest of couples together.
The author does a wonderful job of crafting a sweet love story for both couples in different time periods. Cora (historical) and Chelsea (contemporary) both arrive in Chickadee Creek, ID to find reprieve from controlling relationships. Hoping the men who have made their lives miserable will not find them in the little town, the women start their lives over. They both find healing for their hearts and souls, with the aid of a priceless violin, and two unsuspecting men who fall in love with them too.
The narrative is light and easy to follow, and includes diary entries by the contemporary hero. Each character has a significant inner journey to face, and each one finds peace, and their happily-ever-afters at the end of the story.
The descriptions of the music helps the reader to imagine the emotion being poured into the songs, and one can imagine Chelsea’s aunt’s antique shop easily. The pages are full of delightful secondary characters that add much color, and humor, to the story.
This is a great beach/summer read if you’re looking for something light with a happy ending for everyone involved.
